Kubra Topal, also known as Qbe Qbe, is interested in human interaction and the relationship we have with ourselves. Her approach to ceramics is spontaneous and playful, allowing both the process and the finished work to retain a sense of joy. She is particularly drawn to the idea of her sculptures bringing a smile to people’s faces and becoming a source of happiness within their homes.

Originally from the Netherlands, Kubra holds a degree in Fashion & Design from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. After moving to London, the loss of a parent prompted her to begin her journey with ceramics. Her practice draws inspiration from both her cultural heritage and her background in luxury fashion.

Kubra’s sculptures act as reminders of self-love and individuality, encouraging an awareness that each person is unique and has something meaningful to offer. Each sculpture is built by hand using a combination of coiling, pinching and traditional slab-building techniques.
